Our Story
For years I watched golf apparel become an industry with many faces but the same product. Synthetic fabrics. Four-way stretch. Quick dry. Premium materials, according to the marketing. New brand announced every season, but always the same shirt being sold under a different label. I'd roll my eyes and keep filling my closet with what was available.
Then I hit an age where dressing well started to matter, and I realized the polos I'd been buying weren't anything I'd wear off the course. I had fifty of them. None I really liked. Around that time I also learned what polyester actually is - plastic. It traps heat against your skin, and when you sweat it leaches chemicals and microplastics. The 'premium' golf shirt I'd been wearing twice a week was, on a molecular level, a plastic bag with a logo. I'd had enough. I went looking for a well-made, natural-fiber polo that could be worn to a casual night out as easily as eighteen holes. I tried a handful of brands. A couple worked at first and then deteriorated. A couple were built cheap enough that I returned them the day they arrived.
I started Silverthorn because I couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere else. The Heritage Polo is what I was looking for. Small-batch production from skilled makers. Natural fibers only. No blends, no synthetics, no exceptions.
It exists because I spent years trying to buy it from someone else, and no one was selling it.
